Questions & answers

Frequently asked

Which GIF frame is extracted?

The first frame (frame 0) is extracted. For a static GIF with only one frame, the entire image is converted.

Is GIF transparency preserved in the PNG?

Yes. GIF transparency (a single transparent color index) is converted to a transparent alpha channel in the output PNG.

Is my GIF uploaded to a server?

Your file or text is processed in your browser and is not uploaded.

Can I extract frames other than the first?

Currently only the first frame is extracted. Full animated GIF frame extraction requires a more complex decoder not yet available in this tool.
