About Invoice Generator
If you bill a few clients a month, you may not need accounting software, but you do need an invoice that looks professional and adds up. Add your details, your customer and your line items, and the totals update as you type. Create the PDF when you are ready, and send it however you like.
Nothing goes to a server. Your draft is kept in this browser's storage, so it is there when you come back, and Start next invoice moves to the next number and keeps your own details. This tool is not tax or legal advice, and it does not check local invoice requirements. It adds up what you enter and lays it out. Whether the invoice meets the rules where you do business is something to confirm with your accountant or tax office.
How it works
Totals follow a fixed order. Each line is quantity times price, rounded to the currency's decimals, and then the lines are added. That is how accounting software usually does it, so the total matches what the customer can check by hand. The discount comes off next, as a percentage or a fixed amount. Tax is calculated on the discounted amount. Shipping is then added, untaxed. Any amount paid is subtracted to give the balance due. Currencies such as the Japanese yen, which have no minor unit, are rounded to whole numbers.
The PDF is built in your browser with a real text layer, so it can be searched and copied. The standard PDF font covers Western European characters. Text it cannot draw, such as Devanagari or Chinese, is rendered with your system's fonts as a high-resolution image in the same position, so it looks right, though that part cannot be selected. A note after creating the PDF tells you when this has happened.

When it helps
- A freelancer billing a client for a project or a month of hours
- A small business that sends only a few invoices a month
- A quote or a pro forma, by changing the Document title
- Recording a deposit, using Amount paid to show what is still owed
Tips for a better result
- Add your tax number and registered address to the From box if your country requires them, as there is no separate field.
- Put payment details in Notes, and the due date in Terms as well. Invoices with clear payment instructions leave less room for delay.
- Save each PDF somewhere safe and keep your own record of numbers, as the browser only holds the current draft. Clearing your browser data removes it.
- On a shared computer, press Clear everything before you leave. The draft, including your customer's details, stays in that browser otherwise.
Good to know
- It is not tax or legal advice. It does not know what your country requires on an invoice, and it does not check your tax rate, your wording or your numbering.
- It makes a PDF only. Some countries and government buyers require electronic invoices in a structured format, which a PDF does not meet.
- Each invoice has one tax rate. Mixed rates per line and multiple tax lines are not supported.
- Shipping is always untaxed here. Where shipping is taxable, include it as a line item.
- It keeps no ledger, payment tracking, reminders or customer list, and it does not check for repeated invoice numbers.
Questions people ask
Is this invoice legally valid?
That depends on your country and your business, and this tool does not check it. Rules on required details, numbering and tax wording vary widely, so confirm them with an accountant or your tax office.
Is my data uploaded?
No. The form, the totals and the PDF are all handled in your browser. Your draft stays in this browser's local storage until you press Clear everything or clear your browser data.
Can I change an invoice after creating it?
Yes, while the draft is still in the form. Edit the fields and press Create PDF again. A file you already downloaded cannot be edited here, so keep the draft until you are sure.
